Jay Longino, CRNFA

Jay Longino graduated with honors from the Amarillo College Nursing Program in 1991. he is a member of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and is certified as an operating room nurse and as a First Assistant.  His membership at AORN also includes participation in the Registered Nurse First Assistant Specialty Assembly.  He has an extensive background in helping Orthopedic patients through their operative experience and is committed to providing the best care possible in order to make every attempt at the best possible outcome.

Jay is in charge of the Surgery Schedule.  Elective surgery is performed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Considering the high demand for surgical scheduled slots and because of the emergency cases that must fit into the schedule at times,  scheduling your surgery quickly can sometimes be a challenge.  jay also helps by arranging for blood work and tests that need to be performed prior to surgery.  If certain abnormalities exist, he can review the findings with your primary care physician and if needed, make arrangement for consultation with other specialists.

Important information specific to your case is also discussed with your Anesthesia provider prior to your surgery.  Jay keeps in contact with hospital personnel about arranging for specialized equipment that is sometimes required to perform you surgery.  The hospital can be a very confusing place and he is familiar with the staff in every department.  His "behind the scenes" contribution to your hospital experience is designed to make things go as smoothly and as safely as possible.
